Wegmans recalls various prepared foods that contain hard-cooked eggs

There's a recall at Wegmans. It affects hard cooked eggs and prepared foods that contain hard cooked eggs sold between January 23 and February 1.

Wegmans says the eggs have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria. So far, no one has become sick from these eggs, but there is the potential for people to get very ill or even died from foods contaminated by Listeria.

The eggs came from Michael Foods, which produces the cooked eggs at its facility in Wakefield, Nebraska. They are hard-cooked eggs that were sold between January 23 and February 1.

The various products that contained these eggs were sold in Wegmans prepared foods sections and deli departments. Hard-cooked eggs sold by the pound, also deviled eggs, Cobb salad, garden salads, baby spinach salads, chef salads, egg salad, egg salad subs, kosher macaroni salad and kosher pickled eggs.

Meeting today for Kodak retirees worried about health care coverage

Kodak retirees on Medicare are worried about the future of their insurance. But a meeting today with MVP is hoping to easy those fears.

As Kodak begins to rebuild itself through bankruptcy, many retirees are left wondering, what will happen to our insurance and to address those concerns, MVP Health Care held meetings Thursday to help retirees better understand their healthcare options should there be changes to their coverage.

Four information sessions were held today at Burgundy Basin in Pittsford. For those with Medicare, it was a chance to see what their options are if Kodak drops retiree’s insurance.

Art Hirst retired from Kodak about 20 years ago. It was the only job he ever had. He’s not worried that Kodak will drop his insurance, but wants to be prepared if they do. Robert Gutberlet feels the same way. He never thought the company he worked for all these years would be in this situation.

Rochester man charged with criminally negligent homicide

A homicide arrest -- more than six months after the crime. The victim's brother in law is now charged with criminally negligent homicide.

It happened during a fight at a family barbecue last summer. The suspect is 54-year-old Ollie Porchea of Rochester.

Porchea was processed Thursday morning but he won’t be going to jail. He was released on his own recognizance after he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He didn't respond when we asked him for a comment.

Police say he killed his brother in law, Jerry Lee Maxwell, during a fight on North Street in the city last July.  Maxwell died from a head injury; his neck was also broken in the fight.

Family members were in court today but didn't comment either.

Prosecutors say it took them time to gather all the evidence and interview witnesses before they decided to present the case to a grand jury.

Porchea is due back in court on Monday.

Isaac Giovannetti is charged with robbery and grand larceny.

Police say the 27-year-old victim was getting out of her car on Park Avenue when Giovannetti shoved her to the ground and stole her purse and groceries.

An officer in the area spotted Giovannetti and chased him behind a restaurant on Monroe Avenue where he and other officers took the suspect into custody.

The stolen items were recovered behind a home on Cambridge Street.
