Puerto Rican Festival kicks off Friday | Arts & Culture
The 2010 Rochester Puerto Rican Festival kicks off Friday.
Thousands will gather at Frontier Field for 41st festival will includes delicious food, activites for kids, and of course, great music. The festival runs from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. The cost is $9 per day or $20 for a weekend pass.
There are several new events this year. There will be a 5K Race and Fitness Walk on Saturday. The walk starts at 9 a.m., registration starts at 8 a.m. The cost for early registration is $10. The race benefits the Latino Rotary Club efforts to improve literacy in the Rochester community. The annual parade is 12 p.m on Saturday. Route will begin at the Liberty Pole downtown, westbound on Main Street, turn right on Plymouth Avenue (northbound), turn left on Morrie Silver Way (westbound), and end at Frontier Field.
There will also be a Health Fair sponsored by Lifetime Care from 1:30-4:30 p.m. The fair will offer on-site nurses, screenings, workshops, Zumba and ZBox demonstrations.
There will be an official Puerto Rican Festival Afterparty performance by Tito Rojas on Saturday. The Afterparty goes from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Water Street Music Hall. The cost is $20 and $45 VIP with PR Festival weekend pass.
