Traditionally Memorial Day is meant to honor soldiers who died in the line of duty. However, this year some are also taking time to remember children whose lives were cut short.
Henry and Migdalia Rivera tragically lost their young son in a crash involving a drunk driver.
A service was hosted today for other families who have lost children at the Spanish Disciples of Christ church on Ernst St.
Rivera says he has a message for anyone who may be drinking this holiday weekend,
"we look forward to beginning of summer and we look to spring ya know everything is blooming everything is blossoming but for those who have lost a loved one because of drinking and driving it's not the same any more it never will be."
The river's son, Henry Alexander Rivera was killed in 2007 by a drunk driver who was going the wrong way on 590.
